Terms & Conditions

The boring but important bits! 

By signing up to a course or service with Balancing Birth you are agreeing to the following:

Payment

A non-refundable deposit of £50 is required to confirm your place on some of your chosen courses,  for other workshops and services the full payment is required at the time of booking. Please see individual booking pages for details. 

Any outstanding balance of a course fee must be paid in full two weeks before the first session of the course. If fees are not paid within the required time frame you will be agreeing to forfeit your place on the course. 

Course fees are non- refundable except under exceptional circumstances, which will be considered on a case by case basis. 

Payment is made for a full course as advertised and not for individual sessions.

Flexible payment terms may be considered in exceptional circumstances, and must be agreed in writing in advance.

Cancellations

In the event of cancellation by a participant prior to the start of the course, the deposit is non-refundable.

In the event of cancellation by a participant after one or more sessions of the course have been completed, no refund will be given.

In the unlikely event of cancellation of a course by Balancing Birth, attempts will be made to reschedule. If this is not possible, or alternative dates cannot be agreed, a full refund of the total fee will be given. If it is not possible for all couples within a group course to agree an alternative date, then provision will be made for individual couples. The refunded fee per session will be calculated as the total fee, after deduction of the £50 deposit, divided by the number of sessions in the course. No refund will be made for sessions already taken.

If for any reason an in-person courses cannot take place for example due to extreme weather or government guidelines, the event will either be rescheduled or the course will take place online via live video link.

 

Rescheduling Sessions

For participants taking a private one-to-one course or service, 48 hours notice must be given if changing appointment dates or times. Where this requirement is not met, the participants will be liable for the session fee calculated as the total fee, after deduction of the £50 deposit, divided by the number of sessions in the course. Exceptions may be made in exceptional circumstances considered on a case by case basis. For any other single session services a 48 hour cancellation period is required otherwise no refund will be offered. 

 

General

Hypnobirthing

Participants take part in Hypnobirthing sessions with the understanding that the content of the course is in no way intended to be taken as medical advice. Participants should seek the advice of their own health-care provider to answer any individual health-related or pregnancy-related issues, or specific questions regarding their labour or their birth. Balancing Birth/Bronwen Kenward can not be held responsible for any decisions that you make regarding your pregnancy and birth.

Any questions or doubts you have about the use of Hypnobirthing should be taken up with your health care professionals.

Taking a Hypnobirthing course in no way guarantees a certain birth outcome.

You will be required to fill in an enrolment form when signing up for your course, this information will be used solely for the purpose of tailoring the course where possible to your individual needs and circumstances.

All hypnobithing course prices are for you and your chosen birth partner. If your partner is unable to attend, you may do the course with a family member or close friend to support you, however unfortunately this cannot be someone who is also pregnant, they would need to book onto a course themself.  

You are very welcome to attend the course without a birth partner, however the course price will remain the same, as the fee covers the course resources and contact time with your birth coach, and is not a per person fee.

Birth Biomechanics

Undertaking any Balancing Birth service that includes Birth Biomechanics (Birthing Body Balance) are done on the understanding that the content of the course or session is in no way intended to be taken as medical advice. Participants are advised to discuss with their maternity provider before undertaking these activities. You will be required to complete a consent form prior to taking part. There are certain health/pregnancy conditions that may mean some techniques may be unsuitable for you. Where possible adaptations or alternative techniques will be advised. In certain circumstances you may be advised that a course is not suitable for your needs. It is important for you to disclose any health/pregnancy concerns on your enrolment forms or discuss any concerns with Balancing Birth prior to booking a service.  If part way through a course you develop a contraindicated condition, it is your responsibility to advise Balancing Birth of this. If you are no longer able to continue with the course then a refund fee for remaining sessions will be calculated as the total fee divided by the number of sessions in the course. No refund will be made for sessions already undertaken.  

Taking a Biomechanics course or workshop in no way guarantees a certain birth outcome.

Complementary Therapies

Undertaking any Balancing Birth service that include: Aromatherapy, Moxibustion (mugwort), Acupressure or Massage are done on the understanding that you have discussed this with your maternity provider before undertaking these activities. You will be required to complete a consent form prior to taking part. All products and dilutions used as part of these services are safe in pregnancy in general based on specific training undertaken for these therapies, however individual reactions/allergies/side-effects cannot be ruled out. By agreeing to the treatment you are agreeing that you have no known allergies to the products used and you accept that Balancing Birth will not be held liable for any such unexpected outcomes. 

Undertaking a service using complementary therapies in no way guarantees a certain birth outcome.

The resources given to you in on this course are for your own personal use and should not be distributed to third parties.

If you are an international client working with Balancing Birth/Bronwen from outside of the UK, please be aware that 

policies and guidelines from maternity services throughout the world will always be different, Bronwen will provide you with as much up-to-date information as possible regarding systems within the UK. It is your responsibility to find out how your local trust/hospital operates and what their policies and guidelines are. Balancing Birth/Bronwen cannot be held accountable for any differing information that you may be provided with.
